Sailing with the Cal Sailing Club

Event Details:
The Cal Sailing Club is a non-profit, volunteer-run sailing club located in Berkeley on beautiful San Francisco Bay. The mission of the club is to provide the public with a low-cost way to learn more about sailing and windsurfing.

Please note that the Introductory Sails are a popular first come, first serve event and we anticipate a wait time of 30 minutes or longer depending upon the number of available Cal Sailing Club instructors. The Introductory Sails are 20 to 30 minutes long.

Lifejackets will be provided. Please bring a full change of clothes, including shoes, as it is possible to get very wet. For this reason, synthetic fabrics and wet weather clothes are preferable to cotton and wool, and we recommend leaving behind or using a waterproof pocket for anything (such as cell phones and electronic keys) that may be damaged by water. The clubhouse does not have secure lockers, but it does have cubbies where people typically leave items while sailing.

The ability to sail is highly dependent upon weather conditions. Our Illini event directors will be at the event regardless of weather conditions, but please note that the Cal Sailing Club may not be able to accomodate Introductory Sails if the weather and/or wind conditions are poor.

There is no charge for this event. However, please note that the Cal Sailing Club is a nonprofit and gladly accepts both donations and new memberships.
